Our Lately.......

It's been awhile so I figured I better post our lately. Not too much going on here. Just tired and sick. I pretty much lay on the couch for approximately three hours a day. I know, pathetic! Any who, Avery got invited to a birthday party last weekend. My friend Shauni's little cutie pie Aiden turned one! She had such a cute party for him! Avery was thrilled that it was at the park but all she wanted to do was swing, which about drove me crazy ;)

Last night we had our once monthly girls night out and it was a much need night for me. I needed to get off of the couch and do something to get my mind off of feeling terrible. We watched The Back up Plan, which was really graphic by the way but funny. Then we went to dinner and enjoyed some great conversation. Like I've said before, these girls are just awesome, and I don't know where I would be without them. Regretfully, I didn't get all the girls pictures :( Next time! Kati don't kill me for posting that one of you! I love it!

Easter weekend!!!

For Easter weekend we went to the Coral Pink sand dunes, which has been a family tradition in Erik's family for years. It's always fun to be with the family and hang out outside but this year it was cold, snowing and raining part of the time and the wind was wicked. I was sick from pregnancy and a wonderful UTI so it was kind of a struggle for me, but I'm so glad we got to see family, that's the most important part. We had an Easter egg hunt for the kids and they also had to find their Easter baskets. Avery loved finding the eggs, she couldn't have cared less about the Easter basket, but I sure liked what was in inside. We got her books, Bugs Life, a purse, stuff to put in the purse, and I made her a cute skirt and bought a shirt to go with it and of course candy. Here's some pics of our fun weekend and one cute little stinker!
Notice Avery's "Mr Boo" in this picture. What ever will we do when
his head falls off?

Announcing.............

So I don't know why it is so difficult for me to keep this info to myself. It really shouldn't be and I really should but I can't. I guess I just like people to know why I feel like crap and am incredibly ornery plus, we are just really excited. We are expecting baby #2 Dec. 3rd, which is the perfect timing. Erik will be on break from his first semester of dental school, which will give him a couple of weeks home with our newest addition. Avery will make an awesome big sister and she keeps telling us she wants baby brother. However, it sounds more like "I want baby bruder." We honestly don't care what the sex is, just as long as it is healthy. As of now, I am nauseated, tired, and basically have no energy. I want to eat all the time cause eating takes the edge off of the nausea, but among that, I'm going to do my best to enjoy the pregnancy, eat right, and continue to exercise. Fun pics of Easter coming soon!! Yes, I am a slacker!

Ms. Independent.

It is a difficult day when your baby decides she is independent and no longer needs the help of her mom and dad. That day too however, can be also a very funny one. Last night I was on the phone while cooking dinner, Erik too was on the phone so poor Avery couldn't get anyone's attention. So when she had to go potty, she took it upon herself. After I hung up the phone, I was searching everywhere for Avery only to find her sitting on the potty in the dark. I turned on the light and she said "I go pee pee." Well that was certainly true however, she peed while trying to hoist herself onto the potty. She eventually got up there but not quick enough I guess. There was a puddle of pee right next to the potty and on the rug. Bless her heart for trying she is such a smart girl and thinks she can do it all on her own. Oh how I love her!

Day 4 and 5 of potty training!!!

Day 4- Short and sweet! She did excellent. Of course we only went to the grocery store but no accidents.

Day 5- Slept in till really late. Woke up and had a an accident in her panties. Was too embarrassed and didn't even make a peep. Erik and I had to check on her to see if she was even awake. We discovered her accident and her attempt to get rid of all the pee. She took her panties and pajama pants off and we discovered she peed in the corner of the crib trying to get it out of her bed. I made the mistake of letting her have a lot of milk before bed. I had put a pull up on her but just like a diaper, she hates them and takes them off. So after she took them off, I put panties on her instead and because she slept in till ten thirty (nine thirty if you don't count daylight savings time) she had an accident right when she woke up. I'm not surprised and I wasn't disappointed. That is a long time to go without going pee. She has been dry every night and at every nap. She has had few accidents since we started. Church was difficult. She said she had to go potty during sacrament so I took her and the big potty's at church scared her too bad. She started screaming "I'm scared of that big potty!" We took her a couple of times and still she wouldn't go. During nursery, I came in to take her and I was a little too late, she had gone in her pull up. The second hour, Erik was supposed to take her but he forgot :) Hmm typical male right? But when we got home, she was quick to ask to use the potty again and had no accidents. I would definitely say when it comes to being at home, she is trained but public potty's scare her. They scare me too so it's all good.

Day 3 of potty training!!

I know most of you don't care about this topic but it's for journaling purposes and for Avery in the future when she's potty training her own :)

Day 3- So far so good!! Woke up dry for the third night in a row! Went pee in the potty right away. No accidents. Ate breakfast went potty two more times then said she needed to go number two. Number two is rough for Avery and has been since birth. We've had x-rays but can't fully understand why she is constipated all the time. Doctors say she will probably grow out of it, but we are constantly giving her stool softeners and such but it's still rough for her and painful. She's been telling me she needs to go for days. Today, I was tired of it being so hard on her so I gave her a suppository. Two seconds later she said she needed to go. Put her on the potty, she told me to leave. Yep, she wanted her privacy and didn't want me there so she pointed to the door and gave me the boot! She went and was so relieved after. This is going great so far. No accidents today, and I hope we continue on this path. We are going out of town for Easter so I'm a little scared. Will update further progress tonight.

Day 2 of potty training!!

Day1: Had 2 accidents, no potty yet. Napped, woke up dry. Went to bed, got upset cause she went pee in her pull up at about 8:30. Slept through the night and woke up dry.

Day2: Woke up dry, told mommy she needed to go potty. Put her on the potty three minutes later she peed. We made a big deal out of it and she got candy. A couple of hours later, had a friend over and Avery completely lost interest. She was too busy having fun to pay attention to her body. Had three accidents one was on me. After friend left, took a nap and woke up dry :) No accidents. Later that evening she told mommy and daddy she needed to pee, sat on the potty for awhile and finally peed. No accidents. Got in tub and during tub, told mommy she needed to go potty, sat her on the potty, she went pee! No accidents. Right before bed, peed in the potty again and still no accidents. She is doing great, aside from when we had a friend over so lesson learned, don't distract a child potty training. Will report on day 3.

It may be time.......

For all you fabulous mama's out there, I need your advice. Avery has become an absolute stinker when it comes to leaving her diaper on. She seriously hates it. But, when I stick her on the potty, she doesn't understand that sitting there does not constitute going "potty." She thinks that she has gone. She even goes as far as to ask to wipe! Every night, I have to turn her diaper around and put a onsey on underneath her pajamas just so she wont take her diaper off. For the past couple of days, it has been a nightly ritual of hers and the dang diaper is perfectly dry. My question for you amazing moms is, should I just hang out at home for few days, stick her in panties and start the potty training process even if she doesn't get the concept of going in the potty? She certainly loves to sit on it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Ahhhhhh!!! That is me sighing with relief. Honestly, I had no idea so many people get the same kind of looks that I do. I was seriously wondering if it was the way I dress or something but I was thinking that our generation just looks younger and then a friend confirmed it. We do look younger! And I swear girls at 17 look younger than we did. Interesting isn't it?! Anywho, I won't be so self conscience now that I know you are all enduring the same ridiculous stares. However, I think it is definitely less in Utah for sure, but oh well, I probably won't ever be living there again so I better get used to it. Oh don't worry tho, I won't be living here forever either!!!!

I'll take it with a grain of salt!!!!

So many of you read my rant about people thinking I am a teenage mother. Well, I thought I was going to do as some of you suggested and take it with a grain of salt and see it as a compliment. But today, it just irritated me again! I don't mind looking young. In fact, I think that is a valuable trait and I thank my mother and grandmother for it. They both look younger than they are, but I don't want people looking at me like I'm seventeen and got knocked up by my stupid boyfriend. Today I was checking out of a self checkout in Wal-Mart and the guy behind me was buying wine. The belt moved the wine up and underneath his laugh he said, "oh sorry, that's not yours, you're not old enough to drink wine!" Excuse me!!! Okay, not that I want to drink wine cause I don't but I don't even look old enough to drink wine? While holding Avery I said in a laughing manor of course, "I'm not old enough to drink wine? I'm almost 28." His jaw dropped as he said "you are not!" I laughed and said "Yep, that's right, I'm on my way to 30. Does that shock you?"
"Yes it does!" He said, jaw still on the floor. What in the world? I mean I want to look young but seriously I don't want people thinking I'm in high school. This is crazy!! Am I being crazy? Can I at least look 21 for crying out loud?!
