And so it begins..........
I hate kiddie shows! In fact, it has taken me a while to turn the tube over to Avery but once I introduced her to Dora, there was no going back. The girl loves it. She just yells it over and over only it sounds like this "Dori, Dori, Dori" She can't quite get the ora part. Even though I don't exactly enjoy the sounds of Dora echoing through my house, her saying the name sounds super cute so it's worth it. However, there will be no Dora shoes or Dora shirts in this house. (Am I mean mom?) I hate character clothing!

i am SO with you on character clothes. not a fan. pjs maybe, but that's it.
I totally agree with you...character clothing is so UGLY!! My boys only get them for pajamas. Whenever we go to a store with character shoes we distract the boys until we have passed them. I don't think it's mean, just call it teaching them style at an early age.
I agree with Kati, only pajamas. My husband is also with me on hating the character clothing! And yeah, Dora's voice is annoying. Hopefully I can hide those shows from Cameron. Elmo is enough to drive me crazy!
Oh My GOsh!!! KI am just laughing out loud. I had NO idea we were so much alike. To this day my girls will ask about the character light up shoes and before they finish up their sentence they quietly say "but mom doesn't think they are cute so we get to just look at them."
Keep it at a minimum for as long as you can:)
Oh just you wait! I thought the exact same thing! Character clothes, ugh! Especially shoes! So tacky!! I had my way until Pierson was old enough to BEG for Lightning McQueen shoes, then Spider Man shoes...so good luck with that. The good thing is you can always go for a Dora toothbrush or coloring book.
And trust me- you will be so thankful for kid shows! It's the only way I can get my hair and makeup done!
We too despise character clothing! Just wait soon you will be singing along with Dora...

So sad, but Brec is totally into Dora because Ava is still obsessed with it! I have been trying to figure out themes for Brec's Birthday coming up and all I can think of from shows is Dora and like I am going to throw a Dora party for him! I also love the way Brec says Dora and he will say map and backpack...he just loves it! There definitely is no turning back! And definitely no character clothing...I think we have some Dora jammies as a gift, but other than that it is so ugly and tacky! Maybe as a joke I will send your cute little Aves a Dora shirt! Ha Ha! j/k
I don't do charter clothes either..but,there will come a day where you give in on a little something..lol:)All my girls loved Dora.
Ha, ha! Totally agree about the character stuff! Yes, we'll be at the reunion. We're so excited to see you guys! It should be fun! It does seem like its been forever! I totally wish we could hang out more often. Are you guys doing good?
I guess I just figure that you pick your battles. I don't like character clothing...and thank goodness my kids have not asked for it...but I am sure there will come a day. I guess I just figure that they like it, so why not? It could be worse but they will most likely outgrow it too. (They will however Not get light up shoes! Those things bug me. Really bug me!)
Oh me and Dora, we go way back. Olivia was absolutely obsessed. Now "Dora is for Babies", but Drew still loves her. I'm with you on the character clothing, but I do let them wear character underwear and PJ's, that way knowbody see's it!
Oh you just think there will be no dora shoes or shirts... ha ha. I thought that same thing about princess attire and all I can say is ... just you wait :)

Agreed 100 Percent with the say no to character clothes- there are just way cuter clothes out there! Avery is so cute, I love to check your blog every once in a while and see how you all are doing. You just look so cute and i'm glad you are happy and doing well in Vegas. Take care!

glad i am not the only mean mom. gavin would have spongebob from head to toe!he loves dora too,but he likes boots, not dora! lol. i am dying for the day easton will sit for two min and watch cartoons. gavin was obsessed very early on!
Hey Savannah! Thanks! We are in living in the Woodlands- on the north side of Houston. Are you guys still in Vegas? I really liked it when we lived there- pretty fun place- we had the best ward! Are you kidding?!? My favorite thing to do is buy Power Ranger Tee's, action figures, and movies for my son Kai'den, and his face, is priceless...and my girls well Princess everything, nightgowns, tees, backpacks...I love it all, lol!!!!
The only thing I won't do is buy it for Retail...they all come from Thrift Stores, Ross, or garage sales, love the bargins!!!!
