My Little Vampire!
Yesterday, Avery was having a rough day. I think she is teething, she was tired, and super ornery. We have a fire place in our apartment and she is quite fond of it. Constantly, she is over there digging in it. The good news is, it's fake. It has fake wood, fake flames and the heat actually blows out of a vent on the top. So it can't hurt her but I don't want her to think fire places are for play. So, lately we have been trying to teach her what no means. When she is doing something I don't like. I grab her hands, hold them in mine, look her in the face and with a firm voice, I say No! She totally knows what that means now. So, as she was digging in the fireplace yesterday, I did my little teaching method, she got mad, made a grunting noise, bent down and BIT ME!! Then when I pulled my hand away, she tried to bite my knee. What a stinker! I'm trying to tell my self that her little fit was coincidental but I'm sure she was just being a turd. Is biting at one normal?

Oh yes, it is very normal! Just be firm and say no biting! She will understand soon enough!!
She is such a funny little girl. But biting is so normal I don't know why they do that but most kids do at some point.
That really is kind of funny. Bentlee tries to bite too so I guess that means I can laugh. I'm so mad because James and I have to go up to Delta this weekend so we can't make it to Avery's b-day party but please tell her happy bday for us.
Ava never did the biting thing. Brec has bitten Ava a few times, but she cried and I think he realized that it hurts and really hasn't done it too much...only a couple times and now I think hopefully he is over it. You just need to make sure and let her know that it is bad!
Oh yeah- I've got a biter as well! Addison actually bit me today on the shoulder I have have an actually wound to prove it! I don't know how they learn to do that when they get mad! Pretty soon Avery's favorite word will be "no", its definitely a Addison's right now! She has become quite the little stinker at times, but so cute still most of the time!
LOL...Savannah that is so funny! Only because I went throught it with Kade. For some reason he went thru this stage where he would only bite ME! But I think he's getting better at not biting, now it's just the hitting and throwing tantrums...sometimes I think he's posessed ha ha, jk but I just have to laugh. But it's totally normal! I'm glad I'm not the only one to go through it :)
Kyler is doing the same thing, when we try to take something away that he's not saposed to have, he holds on to it so tight and bends down to bite your hand. And when he's getting into stuff he's not saposed to he sit's and shakes his head at himself like no no no, but still does it and smiles the whole time. It's hard to keep a straight face when I'm disciplineing him =)
yeah, I am doing a party for my kids on Sat too, at the park, what park are you doing yours at?
Can you believe they're one? the year has flown by!!!! it makes me sad.
rylie saw the pics of Avery in her costume, and was like mom that is so cute, can I be that next year.
hahaha that is so funny. Kids!!...you just never know what to expect. She is so darling!! Just waiting patiently for the announcement of baby #2...... :)
That's too funny. Drew bit Olivia on the butt today so that was fun. I wouldn't worry about it.
I'm so sad we missed your family this weekend! You have the cutest way of phrasing things. I LOVE that you have such a smart strong mind. GO GIRL!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AVERY!! YEAH THEY'RE ONE!!
So on the biting thing, my first kids never bit, accept for a few times while nursing, by accident, I know ouch! But Jazzie is a little biter, and she does it when she is mad at me. Like when I tell her no, or something. Or if she wants something and I don't get it fast enough or figure out what it is she wants. Anyways one of my friends said that she read about a study that if you play bite your kids when they are babies, like nibbling on their toes, they learn to bite, and they usually do it in angry or excitement. I don't know if this is true, but it kind of makes sense. Anyways I just hope my little Jaz isn't as bad as her cousins over here in Hawaii. We live with my niece and nephew and believe me when they bite they go for blood, I hate it! Most kids don't get that bad.
