TeEtHiNg TiRaDe aNd MoRe!!

Welcome to the hell that is the teething stage! After reaching her ten month mark, Avery has no teeth. Her bottom gums are turning white, and she seems impossible these days. The moody, onery, whiny, screaming, little monkey, has me at my wits end. With Erik in school so much, I don't get a very good break. Feeling guilty that I lack sympathy, I find it so difficult when she is pushing my face away, throwing a fit when I change her diaper, or getting her dressed, is impossible to feed, and simply isn't her sweet little self. These are the moments that try my patience as a mother. The once cute coos, giggles and talking that woke me up, has been replaced by shrieks, screams, and squeals that make me cringe. If the outside reflected how I am feeling on the inside, I'm sure to look like Cruella! My eyes would be blood shot, my hair in a frinzy, and ears ringing non stop from the new found high pitch scream that Avery now uses. Please tell me I am not alone in my misery! Tell me it is only a stage and it will pass, tell me that although I feel like she will be an only child, I will feel ready to have a second at some point. I don't want to be Cruella anymore. I just need to hear that this is normal for moms and baby's to go through.

Sincerely,
The frazzled, impatient, unsympathetic, madusa mom!

Trust me, you are not alone! Bentlee was so bad when she got her first 2 teeth. She just recently and got 4 all at once and wasn't quite as bad as when she got the first 2 so hopefully it can make it through those then the next ones won't be quite so terrible (still terrible but not quite so terrible:))

Oh, I totally understand!!! It is normal, and it will pass. Otter-pops were always a good friend, and cold chew toys. Also baby tylenol! Just wait till the molars come in:). Just ignore the guilt that comes with motherhood. We do the best we can!!! And it is not meant to be easy!! Great work=Great rewards. I always tell myself that:). Good luck, I am sure you are a wonderful mommy!

TEETHING TABLETS! Also, ya know those icees... I think they are called mr. freezies or otter pops? Anyway, I'd put samantha in her high chair with just a diaper on, turn on a show & let her go to town on an otter pop. It entertained her just long enough for me to regain my sanity. Good luck!

Oh man, I am still going through it with Brec, except Brec gets a fever as high as 104 degrees, ornery of course, no eating which makes it worse, drool everywhere, and will never let me out of his sight!!! Oh and don't forget no sleeping for me at night!!! I feel your pain...in fact Brec is breaking a tooth as we speak and he has had his awful fever and couldn't go to church yesterday because of it, so my lucky hubby got to stay home while I went with Ava even though I was the one up with him that night!!! (I had to teach). So, I am right there with ya feeling your pain! Hopefully since she has been waiting so long to pop teeth that they will all come in magically at once so you won't have to endure them randomly popping up and constantly going through the misery. Follow everyone else's advice with popsicles and a lot of drugs!!!! I love Drugs!

Don't worry you are not alone. Some babies breeze through teeting and it's miserable for some. Try some teething pain medication. There are baby orajel teething pain swabs that work pretty good, give it a try, at least it should ease the pain a bit.

Oh hunny I feel your pain! Ellie's teeth never bothered her, but the onry, kicking when changing diapers and pushing me away is all too familiar. Just wait till your sweet little avery turns 2! Oh yes... it's true the terrible 2's is such a real thing. Hang in there!!!

Savanna, You are so FUNNY! I think the older they are the harder it is when they teeth. The first couple time Titan got teeth he didn't show any difference in his moods. Then this last time he was onry and all that you described. And yes they get over it, use teething tablets and tylenol/motrin and you life will be surely a lot easier!

I swear by those teething tablets, they saved my life! I notice a difference in Talise almost instantly...I should have bought stock in teething tablets, tylenol, and motrin....I would be filthy rich by the amount we used!! :) Good luck!!

Of course it's normal... it just sucks while you have to do it. The waking up in the middle of the night screaming hysterically is what I hate the most. And, my kids are the champions at that. As for feeling ready to have another... if you're like me, you'll eventually feel like it wouldn't be the end of the world even if you're not ever completely ready. I'm never ready, but it happens anyway and we have survived. You will too. :) Hang in there!

Sounds like fun! I can't complain about teeth, but Addison has had some serious attitude lately as well! It must be the age! Diapers changes, getting dressed, doing hair- yeah lots of fun... And she freaks out if you take something away from her she can't have or if my nieces have something she wants- temper, temper! But then she does something cute or sweet and its hard to stay mad too long! Yeah, Addison is looking so old, its sad. I'd totally hold on to the baby look with Avery! I wish we were closer so we could hang out all the time, I would just love it!

K I LOVE this post because it makes us all feel like we are normal! We all go through the same crappy times being a mom and I hate it when people try to make it look perfect and their kids are perfect and being a mom isn't hard! WAHTEVER!! At least you had a little sweetheart until the teething time, I didn't even know when Mia was teething...that was always her! Ayla on the other hand is my little cup of sweetness! Trust me if I can get to the point of having a second kid you can too!=)
