Do ya think she's ready????

Today I was making lunch for the three of us and Avery walks up to me with her pants in her hand all while tugging at her diaper. We haven't been trying to potty train quite yet because she hasn't really shown all the signs. I took this little gesture of hers to mean, I need to go potty. So I said, "Avery do you need to go potty?" She says, "Potty!" So I asked Erik to help her to go in her potty. He jumped up and took her. She sat down and of course nothing happened. Well, she stands up so he goes into her room to get her a new diaper. Meanwhile, she closes the bathroom door and and proceeds to pee on the floor instead of in her potty. Erik was kind of peeved but I took it as a good sign. To me, she is starting to show us she is ready. She's never even made a gesture until now. I think she's getting close. What do you think?

Sounds like she is getting close! We knew Nathan was ready because he would take off his diaper every time right after he would go in it- even if there was just a tiny bit...

You could always start now, and if it doesn't go well, stop and then try again a little later...

We are most likely going to be moving- but we are not sure how soon, or where! It is exciting :)

She probably is interested in going on the potty but she is still pretty young. It can be more trouble than it is worth if you try to potty train early. Chances are she could regress and then it would just be a bad experience for both of you. I say wait. Encourage her to go potty when she wants to go but try not to pressure her or get mad if she does pee on the floor (it is hard...I know) that way when she really is ready it will be smooth sailing.

I think that she is showing signs, but is still young. But you could try, who knows, she might be a miracle and easy to potty train!

I'd say that's a pretty good sign!! Good luck :0)

It's sounds like she getting there but I would just say if your going to potty train just stick to it. Don't do it some days and not others. That's what I did with Bailey when she first started to show interest and I think she was confused. Also it's A LOT of work but is worth it.

I agree that you shouldn't push, but let her do it on her own time. Hopefully you'll be luckier than me with my boys...they were both 3 1/2 before they wanted anything to do with it, and we've had the peeing on the floor issues too, except my boys both did it after a bath and just stood there staring at themselves while they did it. I was mad, but at the same time it was funny! Good luck!

Definitely try it with her and encourage her if she is interested! Do you have a little potty for her?

That would be awesome. Bentlee will do stuff like that so I got her a little potty and try to get her to go on it but no luck. It totally baffles me cause she tells me she needs to go and then she won't. She sat on her potty for like a half hour yesterday and then got up when in my bedroom and pooped on the floor. I was so mad! Good luck to ya cause we aren't having much luck here :)

Yeah she has a little potty. She loves to sit on it, but never does anything. I think she is still pretty confused. I will probably wait till she is a little more consistent with it. Right now it's just fun and games to her and yeah she is only 19 months so I'm not too eager yet.

My little girl was interested for a little while at 18 months. Now looking back, it was more of a game to her. I stopped due to frustration and then at 2 years old almost to the day, she wanted her big girl panties and never looked back...good luck!! Potty training is mentally exhausting. :)
